About Us

Chippewa Yellow Bus has been in business for over 100 years. The company was started in 1908 by founder John M. Meuli. He was the great-great grandfather to the current 6th generation owners of Chippewa Yellow Bus Company. They consist of 6 siblings, Terry L. Nelson, President, Karla Nelson Novak, Vice President, Scott Nelson, Operations Manager, Kriss Nelson, Maintenance Manager, and Kurt Nelson, Safety Director. Additional 7th generation family members include Bryan Nelson, Trucking Manager, and Ben Nelson, Shop Supervisor.

 

Additional Chippewa Yellow Bus family members include Jeff Novak, Lake Holcombe Operations Manager – Co. Owner, Shelley Lee, Lake Holcombe Operations Supervisor, Casey Schewe, Dispatch Manager and Operator, Andrea Cooksey, Dispatch and School Bus Coordinator, Stephanie Fedie, Tour Director, Nikki Zimmerman, Safety Assistant, Colleen Audorff, Custodial Supervisor, and 100+ irreplaceable school bus, tour bus, and truck drivers.

 

Chippewa Yellow Bus has been contracted with the Chippewa Falls Unified School District since 1950 and contracted with Lake Holcombe School District since 2022. We currently cover 72 school routes per day. Every school bus is equipped with cameras and GPS to ensure the safety of students and drivers through transportation.
Each school bus is annually inspected along with routine maintenance being performed daily.

 

In addition to offering daily routes to and from school, Chippewa Yellow Bus provides transportation services for school athletics and activities. Chippewa Yellow Bus also offers a 40 passenger Coach bus, 16 passenger mini-Coach bus, and an 11 passenger Cool Van for additional shuttle transportation needs such as for weddings, airports, and event transportation.
